Sustainability at Plant Plast®
Plant Plast® is made from hemp shives, the woody core of the hemp stalk and a by-product of hemp cultivation. A plant-based residual material becomes a panel material in its own right, made for visible, design-led applications. We don't treat sustainability as an advertising promise but as a stance. We explain openly what Plant Plast® is based on and how we approach it. We limit ourselves to statements we can substantiate.

A material meant to last
Plant Plast® is developed for visible applications that stay part of an interior or a building over the long term. Where a material is not intended for short-term replacement, quality, durability and timeless design matter more. For us, a deliberate material choice and a long service life are essential parts of sustainable design. That is why we work with a material that is not replaced by a decor layer but convinces through its own surface.
The raw material: hemp shives
Hemp grows fast. What's left after processing the plant is the woody core of the stalk, the shives, traditionally a by-product. Plant Plast® turns exactly this residual material into its starting point: it becomes a panel with its own character whose visible structure goes directly back to its plant origin. A material made from what arises anyway, that's the starting point.

Our approach, plant-based, without glues or resins
Plant Plast® is a plant-based material and is made without glues or resins. That's a deliberate material decision, not a marketing statement. The exact composition we treat as confidential. We provide transparent information on the material, its properties and its applications, and limit ourselves to statements we can substantiate.
Substantiated, not promised
What is certain: Plant Plast® is made from hemp shives, the woody core of the hemp stalk, and is made without glues or resins. Figures on emissions, carbon footprint or recyclability we state only with testing or calculation. For your project that means: you will not get a number from us that does not hold up later.
A sustainable material choice in your project
For architects, planners and designers, material choice is an important part of sustainable planning. Alongside design and function, origin, material structure and intended use all play a role: what is a material based on, how long does it stay in the room, and does it stay visible or disappear in the next refit? Plant Plast® is a plant-based panel material made from hemp shives, for visible, long-lasting applications. To help you assess it in your project, we provide a sample and answer questions about the material and its properties on a project basis. Get in touch if you're evaluating Plant Plast® for a specific project.
Answered briefly.
Plant Plast® is a plant-based material made from hemp shives and is made without glues or resins. Statements on recyclability or compostability we make only with testing, because both depend on the test conditions.
As a plant, hemp absorbs CO₂ as it grows, that's a property of the plant, not a balance statement about the finished product. A specific CO₂ balance we communicate only with calculation and evidence.
Plant Plast® is plant-based and made without glues or resins. Tested emission or substance values we state only with official evidence.
